The largest cryptocurrency is forecast to yield higher annual gains than U.S. equities and real estate investment trusts in a new analysis from J.P. Morgan Asset Management. For the first time, the firm included Bitcoin in its long term projections, estimating a 10% compound annual return over the next 10 to 15 years, surpassing expectations for U.S. large cap stocks at 7.5%, U.S. REITs at 8.2% and gold at 5.5%. Its 2027 Long Term Capital Market Assumptions further estimate an arithmetic annual return for Bitcoin of 20.9% with 55% annualized volatility, which Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan noted positions the asset as the highest returning option over the next decade.
