Green Party leader Zack Polanski finished second with 32.7% of the vote, or 8,928 ballots, and announced he will remain in his leadership role after the party doubled its previous support. The win is a boost for Prime Minister Andy Burnham, despite Labour's total vote share dipping 3.9 percentage points to 45%. Other challengers fared poorly, as George Galloway recorded his worst ever result in a Westminster race and the Restore party lost its deposit after polling fewer than 700 votes.
