US Baker Hughes Total Rig Count Rises to 599

More rigs were deployed across American oil and gas fields during the week ending Sept. 25. The total Baker Hughes rig count rose to 599 from a previous 595, as drilling operations increased for both energy sources.

The gain in activity was primarily driven by rotary oil rigs, which climbed to 455 from 452. Rotary gas rigs saw a smaller increase, rising to 135 from 134 during the same period.
