Rival clubs, including Liverpool, are exploring claims following the verdict, Al Jazeera reported. Liverpool are City's first opponent in the fallout. Erling Haaland urged Manchester City to “stick together” after the club was found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.
City has launched an appeal against the independent commission's findings on 114 of 115 charges. The investigation found that the club used sham commercial contracts to inflate revenue and understate costs by more than £900 million between 2009 and 2018. Sanctions have not been announced, with possible penalties including fines, points deductions and expulsion from the Premier League.
