Xi Invites 100,000 US Youth to China as Student Enrollment Hits Lows

President Xi Jinping will gift two giant pandas to the Atlanta Zoo as a gesture of goodwill during his diplomatic visit to Washington. The animals, which include a panda named Ping Ping, are scheduled to arrive in the US within a few days to serve as what the Chinese leader called "envoys of friendship" between the two countries.

Xi also launched an initiative to invite 100,000 young Americans to visit and study in China over the next five years. This effort to expand academic ties follows a steep decline in US student enrollment in China, which has fallen to 2,000 or fewer from a previous peak of 15,000, while the population of Chinese students in the US now exceeds 250,000.
