The gap follows similar disruptions to television pool coverage. Other major networks refused to substitute when the White House excluded CNN from its assigned coverage duties on Trump’s Sept. 26 trip to Tennessee and Oct. 1 trip to Texas and Oklahoma. The shared TV pool remained inactive on those trips but has operated normally on days assigned to other networks.
US District Judge Timothy Kelly will hear arguments at 11 a.m. ET on Oct. 8 on whether to extend protection for CNN, MS NOW and Politico, the day his 14 day temporary restraining order expires. Kelly ordered their credentials restored on Sept. 24, finding they were likely to succeed on claims that the passes were revoked without “constitutionally adequate due process.” The Justice Department has asked him to reject longer protection and allow Trump to reinstate the ban.
