Leiter, an IDF reserve soldier and the son of Israel's ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Leiter, is fighting for his life at Shaare Zedek Hospital after the attacker accelerated toward a police cruiser on Route 443. Israeli forces shot and killed the driver at the scene.
