An AI neocloud startup focused on high-speed inference secured new funding from venture capital firms Abstract and Blackbird to grow its bare-metal computing network. The $100 million Series A round values General Compute at $800 million post-money, which represents a 13-fold increase in the company’s valuation over the last five months.
The provider leverages specialized chips from SambaNova, Cerebras, and Positron to scale its inference infrastructure. To avoid building new data centers from scratch, the company repurposes existing facilities and former Bitcoin mining sites for AI workloads. The funding follows a new customer agreement generating $100 million in annual recurring revenue, and the startup targets the deployment of 75MW of computing capacity by 2027.
