The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control has sanctioned Alzaq, two France-based individuals, and the sham charities Association Baraka and Ensemble C Mieux. The Treasury states the operation ran for six years and moved more than $2M to Hamas via cryptocurrency and deceptive fronts, with $1.5M of those funds collected after the October 7 attacks. Prosecutors allege Alzaq personally raised over $1.75M, while separate alerts have flagged other funding conduits such as the Al-Khair Challenge on the Spotfund platform.
