Tropical Storm Rachel is forecast to cross the U.S.-Mexico border this weekend as a weak storm or depression, with the National Hurricane Center extending its forecast cone into far Southern California. The system may drench the Mojave Desert, bring squalls to Utah, and create a tornado risk in Arizona. Projections indicate remnant moisture could bring 2-3 inches of rain and drop regional temperatures by more than 20 degrees by the end of the weekend.
