Mainland users of iPhone will gain access to a localized version of Apple’s generative AI suite starting with a developer beta on Nov 4. The official public release is scheduled for December as part of the iOS 27.3 update, featuring a partnership with Alibaba to power the system. Chinese users will be able to access Alibaba’s Qianwen model for text and image understanding and content generation through Siri, visual intelligence, and system-wide writing tools without leaving their Apple applications.
The launch comes after more than two years of delays since Apple first introduced the technology in 2024. While the integration provides core AI capabilities, certain advanced features debuted at WWDC 2026—such as cross-app operations and personal context understanding for Siri—will not be included in the initial Chinese release. Users can activate the service using their existing Apple IDs.
