A formal inauguration ceremony on Oct. 15 officially launched traffic across the new crossing between the two nations. The event opened the New Yalu River bridge to vehicles for the first time, as reported by state media Xinhua, providing a direct road link for movement and trade between the neighbors.

The bridge remained closed for more than 10 years after its construction was initially completed. News reports from Reuters and the New York Post highlighted that the project had been stalled for over a decade since the construction phase ended before this week's opening.
