The incoming House Democratic majority plans to expand its planned investigations into Donald Trump’s finances to include a probe of the family’s cryptocurrency business. The inquiry will focus on potential conflicts of interest involving those ventures, which have generated at least $2.3B in profits according to Reuters estimates.
Robert Garcia, the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said he has spent months conducting preliminary research to ensure the committee can begin its work immediately upon the new Congress being sworn in. Garcia previously issued a public warning to Trump associates to “lawyer up” in anticipation of probes that will also cover corporate corruption, the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, and abuses by ICE.
