Homeland Security Investigations agents searched the Minnesota Democrat’s home under a warrant approved by a federal judge. Fox News reported that the criminal investigation includes immigration paperwork her late father completed when she was a child. No charges against Omar have been announced. Her spokesperson denied wrongdoing, and Omar called the search “an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.”
Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday he had no advance warning of the search and that the Justice Department should follow the evidence rather than pursue political opponents. “If there's a real case there, we're going to follow the facts. If there's not a real case there, then we won't,” he said. House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries rejected the basis for the raid, saying, “There's nothing there.” Omar is running for reelection in next month’s midterms.
