CXMT Mass Produces 5th Gen Memory Platform With 50% More Dies Per Wafer

ChangXin Memory Technologies reduced the spacing between key structures in its data-storage region to 11.95 nm through a technique called quadruple patterning. The Hefei-based chipmaker used this process to launch mass production of its fifth generation DRAM platform, which now supports 24Gb LPDDR5X products.

The G5 platform produces at least 50% more gross dies per wafer than the previous fourth generation version when using 8Gb chips. CXMT developed the new technology through computer simulations and joint research and development with domestic Chinese semiconductor-equipment manufacturers on critical production steps.
