Saronic has begun construction of its Port Alpha shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, after the US Navy awarded the company a production contract for 10 Marauder autonomous surface vessels. Each 180 foot ship averages about $40M in cost, with first deliveries possible in 2027. The groundbreaking event was attended by Vice President JD Vance and Governor Greg Abbott. Galliano Marine Services also secured an order for 10 medium uncrewed surface vessels as part of the same procurement push.
