The suspects were arrested at 2 a.m. on Oct. 8 after security patrols found an abandoned vehicle near the fence of RAF Molesworth at 10 p.m. the previous night. The base houses the US Joint Intelligence Operations Centre for Europe and other NATO hubs. Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London stated that the investigation is in its early stages and there is no current evidence the breach is linked to suspected Iranian plots at RAF Fairford.

British counter-terrorism officials have ended the custody of foreign nationals who were caught inside a secure military installation in Cambridgeshire. The men, Latvian citizens residing in the UK and aged 32 and 36, were released on bail on Oct. 9 after being detained for suspected trespass and criminal damage, as well as entering a prohibited place for purposes prejudicial to the UK under the National Security Act 2023.
