India and Nepal Flood Death Toll Rises to 83

Nepal's government has placed 49 of its 77 districts under flood warnings, identifying the Chitwan region as the area hardest hit. Some affected zones were already devastated by a disaster last month that claimed 1,450 lives. In Uttar Pradesh, precipitation between Sept. 25 and Sept. 27 reached 66.5 mm, nearly nine times the usual 7.6 mm, which destroyed 117 homes.
