ChainScript RAT Employs Polygon Smart Contract to Stop C2 Takedowns

ChainScript RAT delivers a full system shell and steals digital wallets from Windows users through ClickFix lures disguised as Spotify or Microsoft Teams installers. The malware queries a smart contract on the Polygon blockchain to locate its command-and-control (C2) servers, allowing operators to rotate server addresses without updating the software on infected machines.

This blockchain-based approach prevents traditional infrastructure takedowns because the underlying smart contract cannot be seized by authorities. The RAT provides attackers with file control, screenshot capabilities, and remote JavaScript execution on targeted devices. Security researchers recommend blocking unauthorized msiexec operations to stop the installation of the malicious MSI packages.
