Cognition Appoints Alex Stamos as CISO for AI Security

Practical engineering and hard work can resolve the safety threats posed by artificial intelligence, Alex Stamos said upon joining Cognition on September 29. Stamos assumed the role of Chief Information Security Officer at the San Francisco based company to manage systemic security issues, asserting that the industry must focus on technical solutions rather than panicking.

Paul Grewal welcomed Stamos to the firm and noted that the two had previously collaborated on projects in Menlo Park. The hiring of the new CISO was first reported by Axios and marks the arrival of a veteran security leader to manage risks as the AI startup expands its capabilities.
