Terafab is investing $16.8 billion in a Grimes County, Texas facility with a long-term goal of 1 million wafer starts per month and 3,000 jobs. The project is excluding Chinese suppliers to source equipment and materials from across South Korea, with demands for prices lower than Chinese rivals. While partnering with Intel and consulting TSMC for logic chips, the facility aims to reach an initial capacity of 100,000 wafers per month before 2030 with dedicated support from Lam Research and Applied Materials.
