Colorado voters approved Proposition 134, which prohibits transgender athletes from competing in girls’ and boys’ sports from kindergarten through the collegiate level. The measure passed with 52% support, receiving 1,276,774 “yes” votes as officials finalized the count.
A separate measure, Proposition 135, which would ban gender confirmation surgery for minors, currently leads 52-48 with roughly 90% of ballots counted and is likely to pass. The efforts were part of the Protect Kids Colorado campaign, which supporters claim was outspent 22 to 1 by opponents while promoting measures to restrict gender-affirming care and tighten penalties for child sex trafficking.
