The U.S. dollar reached a 17 month high on Oct. 2, with the Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index gaining 1.7% in September. This rally followed hawkish commentary from Federal Reserve officials Michael Barr and John Williams and market bets on a December rate hike to curb inflation. Meanwhile, the 30 year Treasury yield hit its highest level since 2002, pushed by energy price spikes from the Iran war and fiscal worries regarding France.
