A White House official confirmed to Fox News that Katie Zacharia has been offered the top press role to replace Karoline Leavitt. The New York Times also reported Zacharia as the choice to serve as the primary spokesperson for President Trump's administration.

The appointment makes Zacharia the seventh consecutive woman to hold the position of press secretary. The office has not been held by a man since Sean Spicer served in the role nearly 10 years ago.
