Schwab Opens Bitcoin and Ether Trading to Millions of Clients

Digital asset services are now available to a broad segment of the brokerage's users as part of a strategy to increase earnings. CEO Rick Wurster announced that eligible customers can now trade bitcoin and ether through the retail platform to help Schwab cash in on new trading revenue from its millions of accounts.

The firm is implementing asset transfer capabilities in phases, which will allow clients to move existing cryptocurrency holdings into their brokerage accounts or send coins to external wallets. This completes the primary retail rollout for the firm's crypto offering.
