The move follows a 3-0 victory for Ireland in the first leg, during which players wore black armbands, bowed their heads during the Israeli national anthem, and refused pre-match handshakes to protest the war in Gaza. Reserve goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was the only squad member to publicly withdraw from the series of matches, while a group of more than 160 Irish athletes had previously urged the team to boycott the fixtures entirely.
