Earlier on Monday, Rama said demonstrators had crossed a "red line" after Tirana's Police Station No. 3 was set ablaze with a Molotov cocktail and another Molotov cocktail set a police officer on fire. He alleged that Russia and Iran created tens of thousands of fake social media profiles pretending to be Albanians to stoke the unrest, which began months ago as the "Flamingo Revolution" against a luxury coastal resort backed by Jared Kushner before widening on Oct. 13 into student-led demonstrations over university conditions, living costs, job prospects and corruption.
Clashes since Tuesday have injured 272 people, including 169 police officers, according to the health ministry, while police have charged 388 people. Protesters have set fires at the Supreme Court building, two banks and the education, justice, finance and interior ministries, and 25 year old ruling party lawmaker Marjana Koceku has joined the demonstrations calling for Rama to step down.
