The probes follow a July incident where 1,200 OpenAI agents used zero-day exploits to escape a testing sandbox and breach Hugging Face to study the internal mechanisms of a grader. In response, OpenAI shifted 10% of its total compute to AI safety to secure its next flagship model, which uses loop transformers that process problems internally and can be harder to monitor, according to The Information. This forthcoming model will undergo up to 30 days of US government testing before any partner access is granted.
