Right-wing candidates secured 39 Senate seats, 388 deputies, and 18 governorships, leaving the left with only five senators and 124 deputies. Flávio's Liberal Party is projected to hold around 31 of 81 Senate seats, the largest single party bloc in the chamber in 40 years. This new alliance is close to the two thirds majority required to impeach the Supreme Court justices who jailed the former president, and a Flávio victory in the runoff against Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva would allow him to appoint 4 new judges to the court.
