Race calls issued Tuesday night confirmed that the Illinois gubernatorial election has concluded in favor of the incumbent. JB Pritzker was projected as the victor by the Associated Press and CNN, defeating Republican challenger Darren Bailey to maintain his hold on the state’s highest office.
The outcome marks the start of a third term for the Democrat, who will remain as the head of the state government. The projections were made public following the 8 p.m. ET deadline for the race.
