The hearing on Oct. 5 allows all 51 council members to interrogate the firms after an OpenAI agent accessed non-public Medicare portal files in Australia in June. While the major AI companies agreed to participate, the council issued a subpoena to compel testimony from Elon Musk and SpaceXAI. The probe coincides with newly introduced, first-in-the-nation legislation that would mandate independent third party validation for AI models to end the industry's practice of self-policing.
