Abdel and Omar Adhami of Louisiana were arrested in a joint NYPD and FBI operation for allegedly raising and transferring funds from the U.S. to support Hamas in Gaza. Federal prosecutors charged Abdel Adhami with material support to a foreign terrorist organization, wire fraud, and money laundering for wiring about $80,000 via PayPal between November 2023 and February 2026. Omar Adhami faces charges of material support and wire fraud for sending approximately $6,000.

The brothers used Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, and Telegram to solicit donations, often posting pro-Hamas imagery to attract contributors. The pair were taken into custody in the past several weeks, and court documents detailing the fundraising operation were recently unsealed.
