The FBI, U.S. Capitol Police, and U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating more than 100 letters containing an unidentified white powder sent to Congressional and state election offices nationwide. Some letters included return addresses linked to the Democratic Socialists of America and warned of an impending civil war, with incidents reported in the offices of Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Hillary Scholten, and Rep. Kevin Kiley. The mailings occurred weeks before the November 3 midterms and on the 25th anniversary of the anthrax attacks on Capitol Hill.
