The frequency of kernel vulnerabilities per release has tripled as artificial intelligence tools are used to scan codebase for flaws. Despite the mass update for the newest distribution, some security practitioners argue that many of the reported flaws are not practically useful for attackers. Furthermore, older kernels like version 5.15 still contain 202 known CVEs that remain unfixed in the latest releases, even after being resolved in previous retirements.
