The professional basketball team based in Georgia formally addressed municipal officials to express its frustration over the logistics of hosting the league’s current championship series. In an open letter to the city of Atlanta, the Atlanta Dream cited a “venue mess” stemming from the difficulties of securing suitable facilities for high-profile home games, including the late rescheduling of the WNBA Finals Game 6 to a 12:30 p.m. ET tipoff this Thursday.
The matchup between the Dream and the Golden State Valkyries will take place on Oct 29 at the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena. The league moved the game from its original 8 p.m. ET slot to avoid using the Dream’s 3,500-seat home court at Gateway Center, necessitating the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks shift their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers to 8 p.m. and prompting Steve Kerr to comment on the unusual early start time.
