The U.S. Department of Justice and FBI collaborated with UK authorities and technology companies last week to disrupt criminal networks targeting victims across the Atlantic. During a coordinated "Joint Disruption Week," Meta removed more than 3.7 million fraudulent Facebook and Instagram accounts, pages, and groups, marking the largest-ever removal of social media accounts linked to West African scam centers. The operation, which also included participation from Google and OpenAI, resulted in 28 arrests and the rescue of 117 malnourished trafficking victims from a facility in Ghana.
