RobCo Valuation Doubles to $1B in Secondary Sale

Venture capital firms including Sequoia and Cherry Ventures have acquired shares in a Munich-based industrial automation firm. RobCo sold $40M of shares in a secondary transaction that valued the company at more than $1B, which is double the approximately $500M valuation it held after raising $100M in January. The deal highlights growing investor appetite for physical AI systems that can automate unstructured manual tasks.

Founded in 2020 by Roman Hölzl, the company develops the Alfie robot, which is designed for safety-critical work on factory floors. The startup is scheduled to put its first robot on sale early next year. Participating investors in the current round include existing backers Lightspeed, Greenfield, Kindred and Lingotto.
