Observers monitoring maritime traffic on Oct 19 reported that the Very Large Crude Carrier was seen leaking, which contradicts previous reports that the pollution in the area had been successfully managed.

The tanker was previously engulfed in fire and remains under salvage operations. Three days ago, the ship Caroline Bezengi reported that a crude oil spill had been contained with only a thin sheen of residuals remaining, but new sightings indicate the vessel is once again leaking.
