OpenAI recently banned accounts linked to Russia and Iran that used its AI to run front organizations and plant fake news. The Russian operation, the most complex front identity the company has dismantled in 2.5 years, used a fake persona named 'Mia Clark' to manage a Latin American think tank with unwitting local staff. In a separate action, OpenAI disrupted an Iranian operation that used seven fake journalist personas to place roughly 100 articles critical of the U.S. war against Iran in about a dozen global outlets.
