The disqualification bid comes ahead of a scheduled Oct. 19 evidentiary hearing where Reyes ordered Interior Department Deputy Chief of Staff Gregory Wischer and National Park Service official Jessica Bowron to give sworn testimony on who authorized the clearing of 430 of the 729 trees slated for removal at Washington's East Potomac Golf Links. Reyes previously blocked further tree cutting through Oct. 26 in a 21 page opinion after government lawyers gave the court and preservationist plaintiffs notice of the weekend work at 4:55 p.m. on the Friday before a holiday weekend.
