He defeated the runner-up, Gaspar Benilde, by a margin of 25 votes, with Benilde receiving 30.8% of the vote and third-place candidate Itala Yovana taking 28.2%. Official results from ONPE confirm Flores as the winner of the local race.

Flores is a center-left politician and moderate social democrat who campaigned on an anti-corruption platform. Despite his name, he ran for the Ahora Nación party, and his political affiliation contrasts with the ideologies of his namesakes. He stated his parents gave him the name at birth.
