Land concessions held by agribusiness firms have been pinpointed as the source of smoke from forest fires ravaging Indonesia, an investigation by Greenpeace found. The organization identified more than 20 companies in the palm, pulp and sugar sectors, some with links to Singapore and Malaysia, whose properties fueled the blazes. This toxic haze has spread as far as Manila, and Singapore recorded the worst air quality in the world on October 5.
