The recovery followed a steep decline in which the STAR 50 index fell 3.78% by the midday break on Oct. 9, following a 4.82% drop in its first session after the National Day holiday. That index has lost more than a third of its value since July 1 as high-valuation tech hardware shares became vulnerable to growing doubts about the global AI trade. Despite the selloff, the index continues to trade at approximately 100 times earnings.
