The race for Indiana’s top election post ended in a victory for the Democratic candidate on Nov 4. The Associated Press has projected that Beau Bayh won the election for secretary of state, defeating Republican Max Engling to secure a position previously held by the GOP.
Bayh’s victory was preceded by strong early performance in conservative districts such as Dubois County, where he earned 3,986 votes, or 48.2%, compared to Engling’s 3,749 votes, or 45.4%, in absentee and early ballots. The early vote share represents a 41 point shift from the 2024 presidential election, in which Donald Trump won the county by 38 points.
