A judge has issued a conviction against the former gang boss who planned the 1996 shooting of a hip-hop icon in Las Vegas. Duane "Keffe D" Davis was sentenced to a term of 40 years to life in prison for orchestrating the killing of Tupac Shakur, and the court awarded Davis 731 days of credit for time already spent in custody.

The sentencing arrives roughly 30 years after one of the most notorious cold cases in music history. Prosecutors relied on Davis's own admissions and a personal memoir in which the defendant detailed his involvement in the murder to secure the conviction.
