AI Unlocks 1,669 Free PS5 Games in First Accelerated Hardware Hack

A new store for jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles now allows users to download titles, updates and DLCs for free. The homebrew app, known as Overdrive, was uploaded to GitHub on October 9 and sources its content from platforms such as MediaFire. This breach follows the Relapse jailbreak and was made possible by using artificial intelligence to reverse-engineer the console's hardware security in a matter of weeks.

The development is the first known case of AI significantly accelerating the process of hardware reverse engineering. While Sony has not commented, some market observers claim the release could cost game publishers billions of dollars in lost revenue, specifically citing a potential impact on the top line of Rockstar Games.
