Nvidia Bars Neoclouds Using AMD Chips from GTC Berlin

A group of specialized data center providers was blocked from attending a company summit in Europe as a penalty for diversifying their processor arrays. SemiAnalysis confirmed that several "neoclouds" were refused access to GTC Berlin after they integrated AMD GPUs, TPUs, and other rival chips into their hardware offerings. Hyperscalers were not subject to these restrictions due to their superior buying power.

Executives at these providers claim Nvidia employs aggressive tactics to ensure they remain exclusive to its hardware, threatening to withhold early chip allocations. Other forms of retaliation include the withdrawal of support for initial public offerings or venture capital funding. In response, some cloud executives are considering the covert deployment of competitive hardware to avoid further penalties.
