The original analysis claimed defense companies backed by President Donald Trump's sons had received more than $6 billion in active or promised government contracts since their investments. ABC removed the report without an editor's note or explanation before restoring the corrected version.
Anduril co-founder Palmer Luckey disputed both the contract total and the description of 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, as holding a major stake in Anduril. He said the firm invested $50 million, “about 1/1000th of the company,” and argued that most of the reported contract total represented hypothetical ceilings rather than amounts the government or contractors anticipated transacting.
