The shift comes as Nvidia requires Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron to use TSMC's 3nm process for the base dies of its custom NVHBM chips to standardize performance. This arrangement marks the first time Samsung has collaborated with TSMC for HBM manufacturing, although it retains in-house production for its standard products. Despite the loss in revenue lead, SK Hynix is still projected to report a record third-quarter operating profit of roughly 77 trillion won with a 78% margin.
