Approximately 60,000 of Microsoft's 223,000 global employees, or about 27% of its workforce, are eligible for the voluntary exit offer. The program excludes employees on data center, sales, and marketing teams as the company seeks to trim labor costs and redirect spending toward AI infrastructure. This move follows a July layoff of 4,800 employees and a voluntary retirement program in April.
